During the Early Middle Ages in Europe the main sacred musical style was Gregorian Chant. In the 6th Century Pope Gregory I recompiled and unified all the religious chants (especially for the mass).This music was called GREGORIAN CHANT in honour to the Pope.

These are the characteristics of Gregorian Chant.
